Local Teacher Completes 5K-a-Day Challenge to Support South Kent Mind

We would like to say a huge thank you to Darren Lynch, a teacher at Sandwich Technology School, who completed an incredible 5km-a-day running challenge throughout November, raising an amazing total in support of South Kent Mind.

Despite describing himself as “a footballer who doesn’t like running,” Darren showed real determination and commitment by taking on the challenge of running every single day for a month. His efforts were driven by a desire to support South Kent Mind’s wellbeing programme for young people, which helps children and young people develop the skills and confidence to understand, manage, and express their emotions in a healthy way.

Darren was joined and encouraged along the way by colleagues and students from Sandwich Technology School, making this challenge a fantastic example of community spirit and collective support for mental health.

Fundraising efforts like Darren’s play a vital role in enabling South Kent Mind to continue delivering early intervention and preventative mental health support across our local community. We are incredibly grateful for Darren’s dedication, resilience, and willingness to go the extra mile to support young people’s mental wellbeing.
