South Kent Mind would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in our first-ever Mental Elf Fun Run!
Posted on Thursday, December 5, 2024
With 100 runners braving the 5km course and embracing their inner elf, we raised an incredible £1,500 to support mental health services in South Kent. This achievement would not have been possible without the generosity, enthusiasm, and dedication of our participants, volunteers, and supporters. These funds will go directly towards helping us continue to make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.
The festive 5km event, held along the picturesque Leas in Folkestone, invited participants of all ages and abilities to don their most creative elf-themed outfits and complete a route reminiscent of the popular Parkrun. From families with young children to seasoned runners clocking times under 20 minutes, the event brought the community together in a heartwarming show of support for mental health awareness.
“We are overjoyed by the turnout and the enthusiasm from our community,” said Joe Tolhurst at South Kent Mind. “Organising our first Mental Elf was a leap of faith, but the overwhelming response has been nothing short of inspiring. Seeing so many people united in support of mental health reminds us how crucial our work is. We can’t wait to make next year’s event even bigger!”
We’re already looking forward to making the Mental Elf Fun Run an annual tradition, and we hope to see even more of you next year! Stay connected with us for updates on future events and other ways to get involved.
Thank you for running with us towards a mentally healthier South Kent!
